Least Developed Countries
Least developed countries (LDCs) are low-income countries confronting severe structural impediments to sustainable development. They are highly vulnerable to economic and environmental shocks and have low levels of human assets. – United Nation
You may know them by different names, some politically incorrect, some pejorative, but we prefer not to use those names, as they are demeaning and insulting. What are we talking about? Less Developed Countries, or LDCs.
According to the United Nations, these are countries confronting severe structural impediments to sustainable development which are highly vulnerable to economic and environmental shocks and have low levels of human assets.
It is because of the sad reality in these countries that we are encouraged to take action and orient others on HOW to help.
The reason why we decided to help the development of small businesses in these countries is because all around the world small businesses are the core of the economy. Merchants, farmers, day-to-day services…these account for most of the income of an LDC and provide for 80% of the jobs.
Furthermore, from personal connections with the diaspora of these nations, we deeply believe that economic development must come from within the country, not just externally.
